1.

Philosophy?

"I only know one thing, and that is I know nothing."

Socrates

Philosophy is the oldest recovery tool in existence. From Plato to Kant, Aristotle to Camus, philosophers have provided roadmaps to recovery throughout history. One just has to look.

2.

Psychology

"The meaning of life is to give life meaning."

Viktor Frankl

Did you know it was Adler that contributed Step 2 to 12 Step Programs? Many in Psychology have answers to successful recovery.

3.
Biology

Are you cerebral and need more information on recovery? Start with the neurotransmitters, Dopamine and Serotonin. Plenty of information on how your pancreas and liver affect enzymes, resulting in the questionable decisions we make. Are you too smart for recovery? Start with biology.

4.

History

"I don't have a drinking problem, I have a thinking problem."

Craig Ferguson

History is filled with recovery solutions. Someone famous has been there. Look into their stories.

Getting Help

  • Developing an addiction to drugs isn’t a character flaw or a sign of weakness, and it takes more than willpower to overcome the problem. Abusing illegal or certain prescription drugs can create changes in the brain, causing powerful cravings and a compulsion to use that makes sobriety seem like an impossible goal. But recovery is never out of reach, no matter how hopeless your situation seems or how many times you’ve tried and failed before. With the right treatment and support, change is always possible.

"DON'T JUDGE ME BY MY PAST. I DON'T LIVE THERE ANYMORE"

Petteri Tarkkonen
